Tuesday, the deputy Jean-René Cazeneuve went to the school of Polastron to participate in the jury of the competition of the small champions of reading, an initiative which invites the students of CM1 and CM2 to read aloud an extract of A literary work of their choice.
Twelve students from the school contributed to win the place of finalist and represent their establishment during the departmental competition which will be held at the Auch media library – under the benevolence of their teachers: Caroline Pac and Marie Tonnello.
The jury, composed of Laurence Theval, French professor, Laure Morlan, educational referent, Josette Fumery, former teacher, Omar Bouyoucef, Paralympic champion of Biathlon, and Jean-René Cazeneuve, praised the quality of the performances. The competition was very disputed. Finally, it was Léa who was appointed large winner and who will wear the school colors during the next event. At the end of the event, the members of the jury recalled the importance of daily reading, encouraging students to cultivate this pleasure.
After this cultural sequence, Jean-René Cazeneuve lent himself with enthusiastically to the game of questions and responses of students, curious to know more about his role and his experiences. Among the many spontaneous questions were: “Do you often go to Paris?”, “Do you know the President of the Republic?”, “Why did you wish to become a deputy?” Or “what is a deputy for?”. These exchanges have offered children a great opportunity to better understand the challenges of democracy and the importance of citizen engagement, in an atmosphere that is both educational and friendly.
