“Moi Gisèle” is a magnificent album to urgently put into the hands of all children with the accompaniment of a caring adult.
This book by Sandrine Bonini and Annick Cojean is intended for children aged 8 and over. He pays tribute to Gisèle Halimi.
Injustice and women’s rights in question
Gisèle is a little girl with a strong character. She questions the authority she receives and takes a stand on issues related to the status of women.
This graphic album features Gisèle in around ten life situations which have injustice in common. Gisèle rebels, revolts, but also thinks and shares it with the reader.
The first name marks a certain obsolescence, and for good reason: it is the beginning of the life of Gisèle Halimi, famous lawyer of injustice and the feminine cause, that this album presents.
The lively and dynamic illustrations, all in orange, pink and black, take the reader through Gisèle’s biography.
The afterword by Annick Cojean, senior reporter at Le Monde, summarizes the life of the lawyer “symbol of the fight for women’s freedom”. She usefully completes the encouragementability to choose her life as a woman and to respect the rights hard-won by women. Moi Gisèle (Grasset Jeunesse) is available here or click here.
