Two books are announced after the Mazan rape trial, which resulted in the conviction of 51 men for rape, including one to be published in March by Flammarion.
In its publication program sent this Thursday, January 16, this publisher announces for March 5 “Living with men, reflections on the Pelicot trial“, an essay by the philosopher Manon Garcia.
This philosophy teacher from the Free University of Berlin went to the trial in Avignon, where the men who raped Gisèle Pelicot, 72, drugged by her husband, were judged.
“Which road do we have left to go?”
“What does he say about the blind spots in the feminist fight, about our conception of rape and sexuality? What road do we have left to go?“, she asks, according to the publisher’s presentation.
The other work is based on the hearings before the Vaucluse Assize Court, which lasted three and a half months, from September to December: “Write Mazan” by journalist Élise Costa. Announced by Marchialy editions for June 4, it “recounts this historic trial and its off-camera“.
“All the details of this case have been all over the news channels and newspapers. How to tell these facts? How to write about the complexity of debates and human relationships?” are the questions this legal columnist is trying to answer.
The best seller in this affair is the book by Gisèle Pelicot’s daughter, Caroline Darian, “And I stopped calling you Dad“, which was published in 2022 by JC Lattès. Worldwide interest has meant that it has been translated into other languages, notably English, German and Italian.
