Children's author, actor, puppeteer and poet who had already published collections of sketches or haikus, these very short poems in Japanese literature, Dominique Gaultier has just taken up a challenge launched by Cactus Inébranlable, his publishing house: to create a collection of aphorisms.
These sentences, which are characterized by their brevity and their ability to provoke an emotion, are the favorite of the Carquefolian author. With this work with an evocative title, The quiet strength of noodles, he expresses his abundant imagination.
“Still no guide for blind dogs”
Dominique Gaultier had a blast. Sometimes philosophical or provocative, tender or biting, his humor always comes back in full force. Each of his quotes hits the mark and triggers laughter and smiles. Excerpts: “Still no guide for blind dogs” or else “Having a body is good, but it’s a lot of maintenance, while a soul…” Finally, “It is rare that after a successful suicide we regain a taste for life. »
Dominique Gaultier skillfully reveals behind the scenes of his creative process: All these aphorisms were created on my cell phone using the right finger, the left being singularly lacking in imagination. One day, in a waiting room, a girl asked me, what are you doing? I make aphorisms. So she turns to her mother: the gentleman, he doesn't have diabetes but an aphorism.
Finally, some dosage advice: An aphorism morning, noon and evening.
The Carquefolian author is offering an afternoon of signings on Sunday, February 23, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at 13, rue des Halles in Carquefou. His latest work can be found in Paris at the Wallonnie Bruxelles bookstore, on the website cactusinebranlableeditions.com or gaultiercreations.fr.
