A preview of the Oscars, the 82nd Golden Globes ceremony, which rewards the best films and series of the year, was held on Sunday January 5 in Los Angeles. Among the numerous cinematographic works, four, freely inspired by works, won the prize.
The triumph of Emilia Perez
Elected big favorite with ten nominations, the musical comedy Jacques Audiard Emilia Perez sparkled at the 2025 Golden Globes. Already crowned with the jury prize and the best actress prize at the Cannes Film Festival, the melodrama with Hispanic intonation has won four awards. Among the honors, that of best comedy, best foreign language film, but also that of best actress in a supporting role for the American-Dominican Zoe Saldana and that of the best original song with the evilimagined by the duo Clement Ducol et Camille. If the work is not strictly speaking a literary adaptation, it was nevertheless inspired by a reading by its director, Listen of Boris Razon (Stock, 2018).
Wicked, Shogun et The Penguin
Another haloed film, Wickedprequel to the musical film The Wizard of Oz (Victor Fleming), won a statuette for best box office performance. Staged alongside the singers Cynthia Erivo et Ariana Grande, the feature film met with phenomenal success in the United States. Adapted from the Broadway musical of the same name, Wicked is directly inspired by the novel by Gregory Maguire titled Wicked: The True Story of the Wicked Witch of the Westpublished in French by Bragelonne editions.
As for the series, that of Rachel Kondo et Justin MarksShogun, won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series. Its protagonists, played among others by Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai et Tadanobu Asanowere respectively named best actor, best actress, and best supporting actor. Already multi-awarded at the 2024 Emmy Awards, the series is adapted from the eponymous book by James Clavell. Published by Callidor, Shogun is the first novel in a saga spanning feudal Japan. Note that the television transposition has been renewed for two additional seasons.
Finally, the actor Colin Farrellinterpreter of the Penguin, flagship character of DC Comics Batman, received the Golden Globe for best actor in the miniseries The Penguin of Lauren LeFranc.
