International Children's and Youth Book Fair: here is the weekend program

The Spanish stand highlights a selection of intended for children and young people from the Ana María Matute Library of the Instituto Cervantès. In addition to this rich literary presentation, the stand offers a program of interactive activities for children, whether they speak Spanish or not, with the aim of awakening their curiosity for books, writing and illustration. Among the flagship events is story time in Moroccan dialect Arabic, which on December 21 from 12:15 to 2 p.m. offers the famous story of “Don Quixote and the Giant Windmills”.

A great opportunity for young people to discover the richness of Spanish literature and to introduce themselves to the pleasure of reading in a fun and captivating way. For its part, the French Institute of Morocco presents a space entirely dedicated to awakening curiosity and the imagination. Designed as a place of experiences, it offers total immersion where the world of children's books meets new technologies. Its program, part of the theme of the cultural season of the French Institute of “Morocco The Living”highlights 11 authors, illustrators and a storyteller. On December 21 and 22, the public at the French stand will have an appointment with workshops by the novelist Sophie Laroche, the artist Chadia Loueslati, and the author and illustrator Malika Doray. Ismail Kass meets the children for an upcycling and puppet workshop. At the Wallonia-Brussels space, guest of honor at SILEJ 2024, the author and illustrator Abdel De Bruxelles, is invited on December 21 to a workshop and a signing session to the delight of his fans.

Franco-Moroccan author living in Belgium for many years, Abdel de Bruxelles, brings a unique contemporary vision through his comics imbued with humor and sensitivity. His ability to depict unique lives (Matisse, Abbé Pierre and Pink Floyd) continually captivates a wide audience. Among his most famous works are “Tangier in the rain”written by Fabien Grolleau, and which narrates Matisse's journey to this city; or “L’abbé Pierre”, by Vincent Cuvellier for which Abdel De Bruxelles is an illustrator and which explores the themes of solidarity, social commitment and humanity. Abdel continues to influence the world of comics by combining creativity and social commitment.
