Fans of The Bridgerton Chronicle have taken a liking to the character of Eloise played by the British actress Claudia Jessie. In season 3, which concluded with two big revelations and raises many questions about season 4, Eloïse attends with tears in her eyes the wedding of her brother Colin (Luke Newton) to Penelope (Nicola Coughlan). The two inseparable friends had promised never to get married, but Penelope and Colin, put the ring on their fingers during a romantic ceremony, where the production gave a little wink to the fans and Nicola Coughlan, a surprise to his partner Luke Newton. In search of adventure, Eloïse then decides to accompany her sister Francesca to Scotland, with her new husband John, and her cousin Michaëla, whose character has been changed compared to the books, which aroused the anger of fans who were had to answer Julia Quinn. Like Benedict and Francesca, the character of Eloise is different from that of the novels. For example, she never had a crush on Theo, like in season 2, or never went to Scotland with her sister. Out of honor, Sir Philip Crane, whose character appeared in seasons 1 and 2 of Bridgerton, in the guise of actor Chris Fulton, married Marina Thompson (Ruby Barker), who was pregnant with his fallen older brother, George Crane. This botany enthusiast moved to the countryside with his wife and their seven-year-old twins, but the marriage was not a happy one. Depressed, Marina committed suicide. The widower, who had difficulty assuming his role as a father, set out to find a woman to help him raise his children. One afternoon, he received a letter of condolence from Eloise Bridgerton, Marina’s distant cousin. They maintained a regular correspondence for a year until Philip invited her to visit him and confided in her his intention to remarry. At 28, Eloise had already refused six proposals. But while her best friend Penelope has married Colin, Eloise is thinking about single status within the family, where all her elders have had happy marriages. Bridgerton : Eloïse and Philip get to know each other during a stay marked by multiple incidents and misunderstandings.
Philip finds Eloise magnificent, but their first meeting is not idyllic. Philip is not pleased that she did not warn him of her visit and Eloise did not know he had children. He tells himself that she is too beautiful and too young to accept his proposal. She thinks he lacks good manners. But she decides to stay with him for a few days. Oliver and Amanda, Philippe’s children, have mischievous temperaments and do not make things easy for Eloïse, playing some bad tricks on her. Not impressed, Eloïse does the same. They get to know Philip better and during breakfast, he tells her that he finds her pretty and that he is looking for a mother for his children. She confides to him that she is not against finding a husband. Philip, who has not had intimate relations with his wife for years, is troubled by Eloise’s beauty. She also finds him very attractive, but, ignoring this aspect of his life, wonders if he was very in love with his wife. One evening, he kisses her in the greenhouse. She kisses him back. The next day, the children set a trap for Eloïse who falls and injures her eye. Fearing that Eloïse does not have the same feelings as him, Philip withdraws. The next day, Eloise takes Oliver and Amanda swimming which leads to an argument between her and Philip. But they end up kissing.
Bridgerton : Eloise is forced to marry because of her brothers, but all’s well that ends well
That evening, while Eloise and Philip are chatting pleasantly over dinner, Anthony, Benedict, Colin and Gregory, Eloise’s brothers, burst into the room. A fight breaks out. Anthony decides that the only solution, Eloise’s reputation having been compromised, is for her to marry Philip. He gives her a week to find out if Philip, whom she assures has behaved like a perfect gentleman, would make a good husband. Eloise moves in with Benedict and Sophie who live nearby. Philip visits her the next day and officially proposes to her. They retire to Sophie’s office and after a kiss and a declaration from Philip, share a passionate intimate moment. Four days later, they are united in a private ceremony. Married life is not what Eloise expected. While everything goes wonderfully in the bedroom, Philip is absent the rest of the time. One day, they argue about the governess, whom Eloise accuses of mistreating the children. Philip does not believe her and after a quarrel, Eloise goes to take refuge at Benedict’s. Philip discovers that Eloise was right and, worried that she has left him, joins her at Benedict’s. Eloise treats her seriously ill nephew. Thanks to his knowledge of medicinal plants, he manages to cure the child. Back home, Philip and Eloise talk openly and dispel any misunderstanding. They realize that they love each other deeply and are finally completely happy. Three children will be born from their union, whom they name Penelope, Georgina and Fredric.
