Do you have a recipe that comes from your grandmother? Yes ? Normal, almost all of us have them. The comfort recipe that we love to make on gray days comes from her…
A few years ago a funny project was born around the transmission of grandmother's recipes. Jonas Parienté is a documentary filmmaker and thirteen years earlier, he had the idea of asking his paternal grandmother of Egyptian origin if he could film her while she showed him her favorite recipes.
From this idea emerged a project which over time brought together different grandchildren – all documentarians – from all over the world and their grandmothers. THE Grandmas Project has just been born.
Thus, a collaborative web series was created on the grandmasproject.org website and a book has just been published by Hachette Pratique. The book brings together the 20 recipes from the web series, to which are added around thirty unpublished stories from Jonas Parienté's “travel companions” (graphic designers, interns, journalists, etc.) and their grandmothers.
Funny thing, in the last pages it is possible to write down your own grandparents' recipes.
