Charleroi: the 4th Book Festival, this November 15 and 16, at the Langlois library

It is located in the heart of the Langlois library, right in the U campus, on rue Lebeau. Opening doors to the world of books, this November 15 and 16, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The organizers point out that their event wants to avoid the pitfalls of large book fairs which can sometimes become ossified in either elitist or commercial postures: “During these two days, our Festival will experience competitions, meetings and activities of all kinds, always fun and a little offbeat”.

The event that is most likely to attract attention is “The Writers’ House”: in the heart of the library atrium, a glass house will house several writers. They will take turns, throughout the festival, to write, live, an unpublished novel. On the principle of the exquisite corpse, each author will discover what the previous person wrote and must continue the story. Visitors will see the text created live on a screen.

Moreover, if the experience gives rise to inspiration, the workshop “It happened in mid-November somewhere in Charleroi” will be accessible throughout the festival: everyone will be able to sit at the table and write a story in direct. The writings of these two experiences will be collected in a book that Éditions du Basson will subsequently publish.

Beyond that, the Festival continues this Friday the 15th with a night session, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, at 11 a.m., a speed dating will allow beginning authors to meet publishers. Throughout the festival, commercial offers and signing sessions will be offered to visitors. And entry is completely free.
