Princess Anne of Bourbon-Siciles presents her book among the flowers by Bernard Depoorter

This November 12, 2024, Princess Anne of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, sister of the Duke of Castro, presented her new book “And the waves cried Basheba”. Princess Anne had chosen Bernard Depoorter's impressive silk flower factory to meet her readers and friends. Princess Delphine of Belgium was also present.

Princess Anne of Bourbon-Siciles dedicates her fourth novel

It was in the winter garden of Bernad Depoorter's factory in Wavre, Belgium, that Princess Anne of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies presented her new book this Tuesday. Installed among the presses, embossers, molds and cookie cutters used to reproduce plant ornaments, Princess Anne signed her book “And the waves cried Basheba”.

Princess Anne of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, descendant of King Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies, is the sister of Prince Charles, Duke of Castro, current head of the royal family. Princess Delphine of Saxe-Cobourg, Princess of Belgium, was also present this Tuesday. The Belgian royal family and the royal family of the Two Sicilies are very close. The Duke of Castro is a friend of Prince Laurent who was a witness to his marriage to Camilla, then he became the godfather of their eldest daughter, Princess Maria Carolina. Princess Delphine and Princess Anne are also distant cousins, both descendants of King Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies.

Princess Delphine interested in the world of Bernard Depoorter

Princess Anne's readers responded in large numbers to the invitation from Bernard Depoorter, who organized this signing session in his studio. Bernard Depoorter is a multidisciplinary artist and creator. Princess Claire, for example, wore a gray dress decorated with flowers that he had made for the National Day celebrations in 2010.

Princess Astrid, sister of Laurent and sister-in-law of Claire, is also a loyal customer of the manufacture, regularly wearing its creations. Queen Mathilde has also already worn certain creations, just as Marie-Antoinette and Joséphine de Beauharnais wore creations from these same presses in their time. Bernard Depoorter bought the tools and presses from former French factories, which were once used to create special orders for major fashion houses, such as Worth, Paul Poiret, Chanel and Dior.

A signing session in a place preserving a unique heritage and know-how in the world

Princess Anne, formerly in charge of public relations for the houses of Versace and Balenciaga, is a successful author, whose imagination was stimulated throughout her childhood by the family stories told to her by her grandmother. Princess Anne has already written four novels: “The Song of the Pipiri”, “I Have Something to Tell You”, “Even if the Sun Hides”, and now “And the Waves Cried Basheba”. Anne de Bourbon-Siciles takes her readers on a journey between , and the Middle East. The last book takes the big leap between the and Barbados.

“And the waves cried Basheba” is an intriguing family story, which mixes secrets and betrayals. This book is itself a family collaboration since she was able to count on the artistic talents of one of her nieces, Princess Maria Chiara, to illustrate the cover of the book published by the Trois Colonnes.
