The Culture Arts and Letters of the Islands (Cali) association will launch the annual island news competition. It is open to French-speaking authors who must offer a literary journey around the islands, inspired this year by the novel “Gulliver's Travels” by Jonathan Swift. The competition will take place from December 15, 2024 to March 15, 2025, and the awards ceremony will take place during the 27th Island Literature Festival, on Saturday April 19, 2025, in Ouessant.

Two age categories

The competition is open to all French-speaking authors, without registration fees, and is divided into two categories: young people (up to 15 years old) and adults (16 years old and over). Participants are invited to submit an unpublished short story of up to four pages (approximately 10,000 characters, including spaces). Texts must be sent before March 15, 2025, either by email or by post.

A jury made up of six professionals from the literary world (writers, booksellers, critics) will evaluate the short stories based on the quality of the French language, imagination and originality, as well as respect for the theme. The winners will receive prizes of up to €150 and their short stories will be published in a collection distributed during the festival and among partners.
