During the tribute paid to the Manade Laurent which is celebrating its 80th anniversary, at the Center du Scamandre, in the presence of Mr. Henri Laurent and Mr. Patrick Laurent manadiers, Jacky Siméon signed his book “Goya, Cocardier de Légende” which traces the impact that this bull had for Manade Laurent. Even today, this great cockardier raises many questions. Messrs. Laurent speak of him as an exceptional being, and Jacky Siméon, a former raseteur, brought Goya’s immortality through his writing.
Jacky SIMEON: “Goya, Cocardier of Legend”
Or how to interweave in a book, Goya’s career, the photos, in a retrospective from year to year from his birth in 1964 to his death in 1986.
The birth of Manade Laurent by Paul Laurent, then continuity with the Laurent Dynasty, Henri and Annie, Patrick and Estelle, Paul.
Put into context the place “the Marquesas” which saw the birth, where lived and where the famous and legendary Goya died.
Then comes year after year, Goya’s great deeds, his revelation, his actions, embellished by black and white photos which give more depth and breadth to the book.
Nothing is forgotten, each year sees significant moments in national or international life involving Goya, at a turning point in the Camargue race.
Each year retraces the races, the actions, brilliantly in a writing that brings to life the highlights between raseteurs and the exceptional Goya. Anecdotes, which give spice to any work. Places, raseteurs, actions, Goya’s opponent, everything is there and this return plunges the reader back into the race.
The writing is easy, pleasant and relevant.
Goya had his followers but also his detractors, but for all that, he left no one indifferent; “Goya filled the arenas but emptied the arena.”
A book where it is good to immerse yourself in the world of Camargue racing, with its strength, its values.
A book to recommend, to read, to watch and to immerse yourself in it!
