The meeting takes place at the end of the afternoon at the town hall of Saint-Etienne. The Charles Exbrayat prize for high school students is awarded today to Franco-Moroccan author Rania Berrada. The young woman will be rewarded for her book Najat or survival.

The Charles Exbrayat prize for high school students is nothing less than a branch of the Charles Exbrayat prize. The latter has taken place every year for around thirty years in Saint-Etienne, in parallel with the Book Festival. Members of the Souvenir Charles-Exbrayat association must read a certain number of books, then choose the 3 best in their opinion. This year, 7 works were in competition. The 3 finalists are therefore:

  • Just time to live, by Yann Liotard
  • The unknown woman in the portraitby Camille de Perreti
  • Mr Antoine, by Laurent Malot

These books are then presented in the twenty partner libraries in the south of the Loire. And until Thursday, October 3, the public will be able to read it. A vote will then be organized to elect the person who will receive the Charles Exbrayat prize.

The high school students’ prize takes place in the same way, with the same 3 finalist books. The only nuance: these are 3 high school classes voting for the best work. It is therefore Rania Berrada who won the 2023 edition.

The 3 authors selected for this 35e edition will be present at the Book Festival.
