The actor Philippe Torreton in Amboise for a reading of his book “Un coeur outrageé”
Descriptive text here

Philippe Torreton is back with a new novel, entitled An outraged heart. Released at the very beginning of April, the book – which is a dive into the world of French cinema – can be discovered in a unique and intimate way, Monday April 29 in Amboise.

On the stage of the Beaumarchais theater, the author himself will indeed come to read extracts from his latest work. As part of Culturissimo, organized by the E. Leclerc stores, the actor and author will present his work.

An exercise that Philippe Torreton likes: “When I started acting, I avoided readings. Due to a lack of self-confidence, I wanted to perform texts that were simply read, around a large table, at the Comédie-Française, for example. Since I’ve been doing documentary voices, I’ve gotten into the game. There’s a storytelling side that I love. »

No settling of scores with cinema

Philippe Torreton deepens this desire to tell stories with his writing work. The actor – he joined the Comédie-Française in 1990 – is passionate about the verb, words. He has already published several works, including the best-sellers Even And Jacques at war, his first novel. But also A certain reason to livee or again Letter to a young actor.

In An outraged heart, Philippe Torreton tells the story “funny and cruel of an idle actor, abandoned by his wife, in search of glory, summarizes the author. He dreams of revenge on this world of cinema which has left him aside, forgotten. »

Should we see a double of Philippe Torreton in this fictional character, who develops a stratagem to return to the forefront and fooled his world? “I had fun with myself because he is an actor, born in , like me, he explains. We’re about the same age. I played at mixing the true with the false so that the canvas of cinema was as true as possible. »

“A check-in with myself”

More profoundly, the novel is ” an update “ with himself. “Some questions that Albert Stefan, the character, asks himself, I asked myself too,” he concedes. However, “it is not a settling of scores with cinema, even if the book reveals common practices in French cinema and elsewhere: infatuation with someone who comes from nowhere then abandonment, weariness, oblivion ». And the actor cites this moment “so cruel and so touching of Annie Girardot’s tears at the César ceremony in 1996”.

A banning that Philippe Torreton denounces and which he explains by his frank and committed positions as in 2012, when he signed a platform against the departure to Belgium for tax reasons of Gérard Depardieu.

The actor has been awarded several times – notably with Molière du comedian for his interpretation of the title role in Cyrano de or even the César for best actor for his role in Captain Conan by Bertrand Tavernier – will come to Amboise to read his “myth of Golem or Frankenstein” depicted in An outraged heart. A moment of signing will follow.

> Monday April 29, at 7 p.m., at the Beaumarchais theater in Amboise. Free entry by invitation to collect at the cultural space of the E. Leclerc store in Amboise.
