Organized by the Chalon Center Commerces association and with the support of the town of Chalon-sur-Saône, the 2nd edition of the Old Book Fair will be held on April 27 and 28 at the Cloître Saint-Vincent. This Fair, which had 1,200 entries last year, becomes the 4th Chalonnais meeting around books since the Children’s Book Fair, the comic strip fair and the Bourgogne Franche-Comté Authors’ Fair are already well established in our cultural landscape.

This 2024 edition will welcome 10 booksellers specializing in old books, the stand of the Society of History and Archeology, a conference “European papers from the 14th to the 20th century: manufacturing processes and conservation” hosted by Chalon librarians. sur-Saône, Esperluette room (Cour Hôtel de `Ville, Municipal Library), Saturday April 27, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. New this year, an exhibition of illuminations, for a guaranteed journey through time, is offered to you at the Cloître St Vincent.

The press conference organized on April 24, 2024 presented the progress of this event in one of the most beautiful sites in the city and which is ideal for this show, open to all, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bénédicte Mosnier, Deputy for Culture, presented the apologies of the Mayor who had also been detained. Also present were John Guigue, Deputy in charge of relaunching commerce and animation, Hélène Joannelle, Curator of libraries and Christelle Morin Dufoix, Head of heritage animation…

Guy Morel, specialized bookstore in Montceau-les-Mines came for the occasion alongside Christophe Reynaud from the bookstore ‘Au gré du Van’, very active organizer of this event who very warmly thanked the Town Hall of Chalon-sur- Saône for its support and the city’s technical services, without which this event could not exist. He specified that this fair was certainly a place of exhibition and sale but also a place where “the public can come with old books (for bibliophiles dating from before 1851), beautiful pieces, to sell them to booksellers present”.
