In November of last year, Vital Borkelmans was caught in Knokke. He had been drinking and eventually blew 1.2 per mille.

Vital Borkelmans was stopped at a police check at the end of last year. “My client got out of the vehicle himself and before he underwent the breath test and also admitted to having drunk too much,” lawyer Walter Van Steenbrugge said at the police judge, Gazet van Antwerpen quotes him.

Borkelmans had to take a written test and he did so successfully. It was the first time that the ex-Red Devil had to answer for alcohol use in traffic.

After the check, Borkelmans had to immediately surrender his driver’s license for 15 days. His lawyer asked not to impose an additional driving ban and was proven right.

The police judge sentenced Borkelmans to a fine of 1,600 euros, but only 600 euros of that is effective. There was also no additional driving ban.

Borkelmans was given a 15-day driving ban, but he has already served that sentence, immediately after he was checked.
