Pauline Slangen won the Regi academy in 2021 and is now part of what she calls the ‘Regi family’. This (late) summer she will perform both solo and with Regi all over Flanders. But how does Pauline spend her vacation? And which summer will she remember the most?
“Last summer I was the most booked artist in Flanders. Now it was almost as busy. I was a bit more stressed then, because it was my first solo performance. Now I know that people like what I bring. I get a lot out of it. Seeing people sing along, taking pictures with the fans afterwards, the compliments … It gives so much satisfaction.”
“The shows with Regi are of course the best. He always manages to completely captivate the audience. Especially now that Linda Mertens is back. Those are always big performances, where the atmosphere is great. The ‘Regi family’ is also such a nice bunch. It’s always chill. Everyone gets along great.”
“Is the alarm clock my best friend with such a busy schedule? No, I don’t set it in the summer. (laughs) I really try to get my rest. I need that too, for my voice. With so many performances it is important that I take care of them. Because it is always giving everything. You can’t do that for only fifty percent.”
“It’s still busy in September. And then the Sportpaleizen with Regi are coming up. That’s why I took my vacation in June. In Ibiza. Whenever I can, I go there. When you land there, you immediately feel the special vibe. Everyone is chill. And the sun, it gives me an instant holiday feeling.”

“A legendary summer? That brings me to the first summer after I Regi academy had won and was allowed to participate Regi live. So exciting. But I also have the best memories of my foreign camps with the scouts, where I was in for ten years. Like in Macedonia. We had a very close group of friends. Those are memories for life.”
“Does my life feel like a fairy tale? It all went by so fast that I actually don’t have time to think about it. I didn’t continue my studies because I was so busy with music and I’m glad my parents supported me in that. But I’m also someone who lives from day to day. Sometimes that’s better than thinking and worrying too much. In any case, I’ll be able to tell my grandchildren a lot later. From the Ten to sees by the sea, to the Sportpaleizen with Regi. So many highlights.”
