Daniel Sancho has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The Koh Samui Court has accepted all the claims of the Prosecutor’s Office and has convicted Rodolfo Sancho’s son for the three crimes of which he was accused: premeditated murder, destruction of evidence and concealment of the body. There is no longer any doubt. The Thai court categorically states that Daniel Sancho planned and executed the murder of Edwin Arrieta and dismembered the body.
Sancho burst into tears upon hearing the court’s verdict. His parents, at his side, were devastated. Daniel Sancho’s defense had always been optimistic about the verdict. They believed that the Court would not accept the premeditation that they had tried to dismantle at all times. Silvia Bronchalo’s role has been very different. She was the first to travel to Thailand after learning of his arrest. Since then she has remained in the country for long periods of time. She has visited her son in prison, brought him belongings and has been discreet and reserved. For most of the last year her whereabouts have not been known. Daniel Sancho’s mother kept away – or was kept away – from everything related to her son’s legal strategy. Something that, as she herself stated through her lawyer, had bothered her.
The anger between Daniel Sancho’s parents
A few hours before the verdict was announced, Marcos García-Montes confirmed in an interview with Ana Rosa Quintana that Daniel Sancho was upset with his mother. Bronchalo filed a complaint against his former partner for harassment, providing messages that Rodolfo Sancho had sent him. All while the case of his son continued its process in Thailand.
