According to the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the press sector occupies a primordial place in the life of the nation. To this end, the of State asked the Government this in the Council of Ministers to accentuate consultations with the various players in the press sector in order to better support and further support its professionalization and its transformation up to the democratic influence of in compliance with the regime of freedom framed by the laws and regulations in force.

He told the government the need to continue supporting efforts to restructure and finance press companies, particularly in the context of the dazzling development of digital and artificial intelligence, with the necessary regulation of social networks.

In a dynamic of co-construction of a viable economic model for a free, professional and responsible press, he asked the Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital to examine, in relation to the regulatory authorities (CNRA and ArtP), the ways and means to implement, according to a consensual agenda, the recommendations and proposals of the organizations of media actors concerning the press code and the systemic and sustainable transformation of the sector.

Finally, he asked the Prime Minister to the Minister in charge of Communication and the Minister of Finance and the Budget to define a renovated framework for financing and monitoring the execution of public press development plans (RTS, SSPP “Le Soleil”, SN APS and TDS SA).
