L‘Egypt intends to redraw the contours of its economic future by focusing on a strategic pillar: port logistics. Evidenced by the recent signed between theGeneral authority of the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal (Sczone) and the Emirati group Abu Dhabi Ports. An ambitious partnership that could well transform the east coast of Port-Said in a nerve center of regional maritime trade.

On the horizon, an industrial and logistics platform of 20 square kilometers, gradually developed by the group of Abu Dhabi. The agreement, sealed on May 4, 2025, runs over half a century, with the possibility of renewal. It illustrates the clear will of Cairo to strengthen the attractiveness of its ports by attracting international investors capable of carrying major projects.

The step in this transformation is already decisive. On a surface of 2.8 square kilometers should start by the end of the year. This initial segment will include the construction of a 1.5 -kilometer quay. The infrastructure is designed to eventually accommodate a versatile terminal, capable of responding to the rise of trade in the region. The provisional cost of launching this phase, including technical studies and first operations, is $ 120 million.

But beyond the figures, it is a whole strategy that Egypt implements. Located at the crossroads, Asia and Africa, The Suez Canal area is upon to play an increasing role in global logistics. The partnership with Abu Dhabi Ports, already active in several and markets, provides not only capital, but also a proven logistical know-how.

The displayed objective is twofold: to make Egypt a production and re -export platform, and include its ports in the new commercial routes which redefine global economic balances. By diversifying uses, the Egyptian state seeks to capture an increasing part of maritime traffic while stimulating private investment.

This project is also part of a regional dynamic where the alliances are made and break up according to strategic issues. By associating with a weight like Abu Dhabi Ports, Cairo secures a long -term partnership with an influential regional ally, while consolidating its economic ambitions.
