After the Hall’ERTE collective, a new Nîmes collective fights to “save the Halles de Nîmes”.

“We find with dismay that behind theHalles rehabilitation operation for upgrading (in view of the arrival of the Galeries Lafayette, editor’s note), The town hall of Nîmes plans to promote a new mode of consumption. We want to preserve our Halles in the Nîmes, with their fruit soul of 140 years of harmonious evolution between stall and consumers“, These are the words that accompany the petition published online by the new collective.

The latter is called “The friends of the Halles”supported by the ASPIC (Association for collective initiatives), the CQGR (Gambetta-Revolution district committee) and the Hall’ERTE (Collective de Halles de Nîmes), multiplies publications on its dedicated Facebook page, until inviting the press to a conference.
“Organize a real consultation”
The activists of this collective ask the mayor of the city of Nîmes de “Suspend any decision and organize a real consultationwith stalls, employees and also users on the future of halls ”. And to add in concert: “We ask that all the elements concerning the transfers of the public domain and/or the building, the call for tenders and the specifications for the rehabilitation of the halls be public rendering« .
The collective calls for a wishes “Coherent renovation project and maintaining the activity of the Halles in the Nîmes who respect all the actors of this true Nîmes cultural heritage”.
