Ken Bedene, the former Aborted drummer, spoke on social networks to respond to the accusations that led to his brutal departure from the group. In a statement published on Instagram, he returns to events and expresses his regrets.
Ken Bedene reacts to allegations: “I’m really sorry”
After several days of silence and online speculation, Ken Bedene published a long message to clarify his position in the face of the accusations which precipitated his departure from Aborted. On April 16, 2025, the Belgian group indeed announced abruptly: “Ken Bedene is no longer a member of Aborted, with immediate effect.” A message without explanation that had raised many questions.
In her declaration, Bedene affirms: “In the past two weeks, I took the time to think about what has been published – aware of the importance of answering it. I never wanted to put anyone uncomfortable, and I’m really sorry.”
He continues: “In summary, I had an online, consented and reciprocal conversation, with an adult in their state. Although it is legal, I understand that it should never have happened.” The ex-battery evokes erroneous rumors: “Those who know me are rightly surprised by the situation and the extent of the erroneous information that circulates. Consent is something that I take very seriously, and I would never cross this line with full knowledge of the facts.”
“I leave the group to protect it”
Bedene insists that he does not intend to feed the discussions more: “Even if it was a private conversation, and the falsification of the facts is defamatory, I will not continue the controversy by sharing ‘my version’. I focus on my share of responsibility and on learning.”
-He also evokes the impact on his family: “As a husband and father, seeing my family affected by something they have not done has been brutal. Although my wife has already shared that we are in an open relationship, I am deeply sorry for the inappropriate attention to which she has been the subject. She is my closest friend, and she does not deserve this harassment.”
Regarding his departure, he says: “I left Aborted to protect people and the community with whom I created music for more than 15 years. They have nothing to do with my exchanges, and should not bring the weight.”
Ken Bedene concludes by explaining that he is temporarily withdrawing to refocus on his private life: “I take a step back to help my family to heal and to think. Thank you.”
