The partnership between Formula 1 and the Lego group is one of the coolest there is. There are not only countless Lego sets for all ages, but also spectacular constructions of Formula 1 cars.
The most entertaining parade of all time
But what was presented during the Miami Grand Prix was unprecedented: ten LEGO Formula 1 cars in working order, in which the pilots made the parade. The 20 F1 pilots led their Lego racing cars at a maximum speed of 20 km/h on the 5.4 km circuit around the hard rock Stadium. Lewis Hamilton qualified this most entertaining parade in which he ever participated, while Verstappen joked on the small collisions and the Lego pieces scattered on the track.
22,000 hours of work
The models are built almost on a 1: 1 scale, weigh around 1,500 kg and were developed by a team of 26 designers and engineers in more than 22,000 hours in the Lego factory in Kladno, in the Czech Republic.
400,000 Lego bricks
Each of the vehicles is made up of 400,000 Lego bricks, of course in the original colors of the team. The Lego bricks come from the LEGO Speed Champions range, which is characterized by detailed reproductions of the paintings of the teams, the logos of the sponsors and even of the Pirelli tires faithful to the original.
After the Miami event, Lego vehicles will go on a world tour and will be presented during future races and events as part of the F1 calendar.
