After a historical purge in state scientific agencies, the political supervision of federal funding of research and interference in the functioning of universities, the Trump administration is now attacking scientific literature. Since the end of April, several learned journals have reported that they had received an inquisitor’s letter from the Federal Prosecutor of the Columbia District, Edward R. Martin, a faithful of 47e President of the United States. The review Environmental Health Perspectives (ECP) and the Journal of Health and Pollution (Jhp), devoted to health-environment links and published by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)-an institute placed under the authority of the Federal Administration-, for their part announced on April 23 that they have suspended, until further notice, the reception of research articles and studies which are submitted to them for publication, “Due to recent changes in operational means” which are allocated to them.

The review Obstetrics & Gynecologypublished by a learned company based in the United States, is the latest to have confirmed, in the American press, that it received the letter from Mr. Martin.
