
To explain the conceptual and creative process at the origin of Casa Tobi, the Mexican agency Espacio 18 Arquitectura relied on the reflections of the Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, which evokes “A future where the primitive principles of architecture allow the evolution of living space, shaped according to its use and time, and where the scale and form are reflected in everyday life”. Inspired by this thought and carried by the account of a “Architecture with simple principles”Casa Tobi – anchored in the heart of Mexican nature – seeks to reinterpret the traditional elements of its context through a playful look, inviting to discover and surprise.

The residence is located on the Oaxaca coast, on a steep slope grounds which descends to the west; From the house, you can see the sunsets and the flaming waves of the Pacific. The project wanted to echo its environment with an architecture that blends into the landscape by marrying the profile of the terrain and taking into account the forms of the surrounding vegetation.

Architecture surrounded by nature
The main entrance is at the upper level, where a terrace and a pool welcome visitors. “This water point not only reflects the surrounding jungle and the reddish shades of the sunset, but also brings freshness to the social spaces of the lower level”explains the Mexican agency, led by architects Carla Osorio and Mario ávila. They add that he establishes an atmosphere of peace and contemplation, becoming the starting point of a sensory experience linking intimately life and architecture.
