It is clear that Marvel must make Blade and the continuation of Shang-Chi its two priority projects to be integrated into the MCU. Both characters achieved success and Shang-Chi even knew how to bring kung fu into the cinematic universe of the Maison des Idées with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021. But, it is clear that since then, nothing has changed for these two projects. However, Marvel has every interest in prioritizing Shang-Chi 2 compared to Blade. Explanations.
Blade, Marvel’s chaotic project
If there is a project that drags on and does not come to fruition at Marvel, it is that of bring Blade back to the big screen. The studio is struggling to develop the film which had been announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. The reboot is even planned with Mahershala Ali in the lead role. The actor also went on stage to confirm his involvement in the production. However, since this announcement of the return of Blade at the cinema, the public had nothing to eat. The film saw its script rewritten repeatedly, directors left the project and some rumors even went so far as to say that Mahershala Ali might even jump ship.
The mere presence of Blade in the MCU was an audio cameo from Ali in the post-credits scene of The Eternals. Ultimately, the film was removed from Marvel’s schedule. Officially, the project is not canceled, Ali is still in the game but In Deadpool & Wolverineit is not the new actor who appears but the original actor, Wesley Snipes who even goes so far as to throw “There was only one Blade, there will only ever be one Blade“. In short, you will have understood, what a movie Blade is pure hell for Marvel.

Marvel must prioritize Shang-Chi 2 (but it may be too late)
This is why the studio must prioritize the sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings released in 2021. The film allowedintegrate kung fu into the MCU by offering quality fight choreography. Moreover, Marvel had taken care to lay the foundations of the character in its cinematographic universe with the two post-credits scenes of the film. Add to that a more than positive reception from the public. It is therefore surprising that Marvel takes so long to develop Shang-Chi 2.
Comparatively, Shang-Chi has more to offer than Blade. With its box office success, popularity, exceptional martial arts fight scenes, Shang-Chi can become a pillar of the MCU. But the problem is that Marvel may have missed the boat by not offering its sequel right away…
