Opening of the Louis Desmurs exhibition

Louis Desmurs, 86 years old, exhibits for the first time in Montceau-les-mines.

His large format paintings fit perfectly into the upper gallery of the Embarcadère and take on their full emotional dimension.

Indeed, the paintings of Louis Desmurs exude strength and movement, carried by a colorful orchestration.

“The artist remained faithful to the non-figurative pictorial movements of the early 20th century, suggestive expression, an art based on emotion”, as Jocelyne Buchalik, deputy delegate for Culture and heritage, points out, “with references to Georges Braque, Robert Delaunay, … and Pablo Picasso, the Absolute Master”.

This exhibition in this magnificent space is a strong inspiration and stimulation to continue his work. The works exhibited mainly date from the last 25 years.

We find the impatience and speed of the gesture. Pastels, inks, oil, etc., strong energy and spontaneity, light and the harmony of colors mingle with movement to provoke emotion.
