Job Description

Are you passionate about illustration and 2D animation? Are you keen to bring to life original, high-quality graphic universes that will amaze your audience?

Join us for:

  • Create and produce mini-games for the elderly, with graphic quality worthy of mainstream video games.
  • Work independently across the entire graphic chain: research of artistic direction, production of assets, animation and integration into Unity.

You work closely with the Artistic Director, our Game Designer and the team, while maintaining great creative and organizational freedom.

Your main responsibilities

  • 1. Research and graphic studies:
    • Explore various artistic styles (moodboards, references).
    • Carry out studies of the chosen styles and develop an optimized workflow on our open source tools (Krita, Blender).
  • 2. Artistic production and animation:
    • Develop in-game visual concepts taking into account technical constraints.
    • Create graphic assets (scenery, characters, special effects) and animate them according to 2D animation principles.
  • 3. Quality and integration:
    • Check the integration of visuals in Unity and guarantee high quality rendering.
    • Test the game to ensure that animations and graphics work as expected.

Your work environment

  • Management style: functioning as equals, where your ideas and creativity are valued – the artistic director remaining the guarantor of the quality and coherence of the company's artistic production. He is available for weekly discussions on projects.
  • Corporate culture: team spirit, autonomy, flexibility regarding hours and workplace.
  • Tools used: open source software (Krita, Blender) is deliberately favored over Adobe tools.

The challenges of this position

  • Manage your schedule and meet production deadlines (4 months per game).
  • Maintain a high level of graphic requirements in a sector (serious games) often perceived as below the standards of the classic video game industry.
  • Resiliently navigate periods of uncertainty linked to the graphic exploration phase.

Profile sought

Your qualities:
  • Rigorous and patient,
  • endowed with a facetious creative spirit,
  • great powers of observation and imagination,
  • you know how to work independently, with great autonomy
  • and good resilience to periods of doubt and stress.
  • You are open to frank discussions and criticism.

Your skills:

  • From Bac+3 to Bac+5 training in graphic arts or self-taught equivalent,
  • you master the fundamentals of drawing (anatomy, perspective, composition, color theory, light and shadow)
  • and have skills in traditional and digital illustration
  • You know and practice the 12 principles of animation.

Would be a plus:

  • Experience in project management
  • the ability to highlight and communicate about one's creations,
  • notions regarding generative AI tools
  • and an interest in sports (to offset the risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle)

Additional information

Why join us?
  • You will have the opportunity to express your creativity with few filters and great artistic freedom. Your proposals will be listened to and will have a direct impact on the projects.
  • You will contribute to creations that make a difference, providing fun and engaging experiences to a specific audience.

Type of contract: Full-time permanent contract
Workplace: Teleworking (if possible in Hérault) or EuroMov – 700 avenue du Pic Saint-Loup – 34090 Montpellier with occasional travel for team meetings – Arrangement and flexibility of working time possible
Remuneration: Depending on profile and experience
Start date: March 2024
