In brief:
  • “52 minutes” celebrates its 10th anniversary with Vincent Kucholl and Vincent Veillon.
  • Our survey shows that 75% of readers still like the duo.
  • Some viewers, however, express a certain weariness.

For ten years, Vincent Kucholl and Vincent Veillon have been working to make French-speaking viewers laugh through their show “52 minutes” broadcast on RTS1. Their formula, which consists of dissecting current events with humor, is based on filmed and carefully produced sketches, but also on French-speaking personalities invited on the set, to which are added the invented and caricatured characters of Vincent Kucholl. Between 2011 and 2014, the duo launched this concept of false interviews on Couleur 3, with “120 seconds”.

On this occasion, we we asked to our readers if the two Vincents always made them laugh. Our journalists also discussed about this. We collected more than a thousand responses to this non-representative survey launched on January 12, of which here are the results.

Yes, Vincent Kucholl and Vincent Veillon continue to make you laugh, 75%. Conversely, 2% of you have never found them funny. For 20% of respondents, this humor appealed initially, but is now boring (and 2% have no opinion).

Opinions are more divided on the comments side. “Everything has a shelf life, whether it’s this duo, Marie-Thérèse or whatever… After a while, how can I put it, a certain weariness sets in…” comments a reader under our article. Among the opinions, he is not the only one to express this feeling and to suggest highlighting other comedians: “Always the same recipe, boring, I don’t watch anymore, I run away from them! RTS needs to be interested in other comedians, there is something to do in French-speaking Switzerland,” notes one of them.

Other people demonstrate a difference of opinion between the radio show of the two Vincents and the one broadcast on television: “As much as I was regularly overcome with laughter while listening to “120 seconds”, I had a lot of pain to find the same pleasure in the long format on , even if some moments are nice.

Of course, the positive remarks are also there, as are the arguments to defend them: “I find them rather refreshing and caustic. I like this kind of offbeat humor and I hope they last,” writes a reader. “They always make me laugh! Lots of fun seeing them and seeing them again. So cool!”, continues another. “If they were so bad, like some comments say, how come there are so many people in the room every show?” notes one more comment.

What is certain is that their productions do not go unnoticed. And to mark this anniversary, RTS will broadcast a special edition of “52 minutes” on Saturday. The two comedians will look back on their journey with the very first guest at the time, State Councilor Pierre-Yves Maillard.
