The 2025 return to school at the Panache center takes place with exhibitions by the Port-Cartoise artist Sarah F. Maloney and the former Septilienne Ève-Marie Lapierre. Their works will be exhibited at the Cégep de Sept-Îles library and at the Alternative in Baie-Comeau.
The exhibitions at the Panache art contemporain artist center are part of the Emerging Passage Program. It is dedicated to the professionalization of emerging artists in the visual arts community of the North Shore.
Larvae and chaff
Ève-Marie Lapierre graduated in visual arts from Cégep de Sept-Îles and in artistic makeup from Collège Lasalle. The artist now lives in Montreal.
His Larvae and Sequins project is a deeply personal exhibition articulated in three interconnected parts: the extravagant and colorful makeup, the installation, around the deconstructed body and the watercolor wash which aims to be a more intimate facet of the artist. Ève-Marie candidly exposes her mind and body through this work that is both sober and daringly eccentric.
Her multidisciplinary practice combines painting, sculpture, digital images and artistic makeup. She was selected for Emerging Passage after the exhibition of graduates of the Visual Arts program at Cégep de Sept-Îles in May 2023. Her exhibition “Larvae and glitter” will be presented at the Cégep de Sept-Îles library, from January 16 to February 14, 2025
Enclaves
Originally from Port-Cartier, Sarah F. Maloney completed a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts and Psychology at Concordia University (2010) and a master’s degree at the Glasgow School of Arts (2014). She has exhibited in Canada, Cyprus, Indonesia and the United Kingdom. She has been teaching at Cégep de Sept-Îles since 2017.
In her exhibition “Enclaves,” she observes the strata of the ground, recreating abstract photographs and sculptures inspired by drill cores. The play on textures and scale, between macroscopy and model, questions our relationship to the territory and its exploitation.
Sarah F. Maloney’s work questions the effects of geography on northern and remote communities, while exploring politics and international relations. His works, made from local materials or from industrial operations such as OSB or ore, reflect the voices and industrial dynamics of the region.
The “Enclaves” exhibition at Port-Cartoise will be installed at the Alternative on Place LaSalle in Baie-Comeau from January 23 to March 16, 2025.
