After this technical stopover, the future Polar Pod supply ship will leave for “new adventures”.

Organized while awaiting the launch of the future drifting station intended for Antarctica, Polar Pod, awaiting construction, Perseverance’s expeditions in the Far North involve regular technical stops for the ship.

Built by the Vietnamese shipyard of Piriou, delivered in March 2023 and baptized in three months later, the schooner 42 meters long and 11 meters wide with an aluminum hull had made a passage to Concarneau as part of its stop technical end of warranty, one year after delivery. She returned there last fall and was put on dry land, for work on the rudder and to carry out annual maintenance on her boom.

In mid-January, the ship designed by Olivier Petit, who notably signed Tara (ex-Antarctica), and Simon Watrin of the naval architecture firm VPLP, is therefore in , “ready to enter the maintenance site before new adventures,” says Polar Pod Expedition. Several expeditions are already planned, starting next July, notably to Greenland.
