Fisheries and Oceans Canada confirmed Monday that an operation to refloat the ship could take place on Wednesday, January 8 in the morning, without however indicating the exact time of the start of the operations.
The ministry also indicated that part of the corn cargo, totaling 1,250 tonnes, was unloaded from the first barge.
As for the second barge, it is in transit to the ship and unloading should be completed Tuesday morning.
More than 3,000 tons of corn must be unloaded so that the ship can float again.
The refloating operation was to resume on 1is January, after the failure of a first attempt last month, before being postponed.
Remember that the ship ran aground in the St. Lawrence River on December 24, around 1:15 a.m.
A widespread power outage would be the cause, but the authorities still have no details as to the source of this outage.
