Besides the skiwhich constitutes the main attraction of the resort for professionals and the less experienced, this natural jewel immerses its visitors in a diversified adventure, through hikes and visits dedicated to discovery of rock carvings and the promotion of local products.
A few days after the first snowfallthe station, which largely contributes to the tourist influence of the Marrakech-Safi regionwas stormed by a large number of visitors, who came in droves to enjoy the beauty of nature and the warm welcome of the region’s inhabitants, known for their hospitality.
This is the case of Hassan, a regular at this station from Tiznit, who said he was happy to see this natural space attract more people. visitors thanks to the recent snowfallimproving the quality of services and road strengthening works.
In the same vein, Hanane and Ahmed noted that all the conditions are met in the Oukaïmeden ski resort to have a good time with family or friends, specifying that this wonderful site welcomes visitors from all Moroccan cities which creates a friendly atmosphere. They, at the same time, underlined that the recent snowfall will, without a doubt, fuel the water table of the region and revitalize the local tourism sector.
Mohamed, manager of a store specializing in the rental of all types of sliding equipmentfor his part, noted that the demand for sliding equipment has exceeded all expectations since the return of the snow at the station, adding that the visit of national and international tourists takes place in the best possible conditions.
In this context, Ali Ait Lhaj, ski instructor in the resort for 30 years, indicated, in a similar statement, that the recent snowfall have transformed the resort which has become a destination of choice for Moroccan and foreign visitors and gave new impetus to tourist activity throughout the rural commune of Oukaïmeden. Since the return of the snowthe resort is experiencing significant popularity among visitors from all regions of the Kingdom and elsewhere, which has contributed to the growth of all the activities developed in the resort, notably accommodation, the Restoration and the rental of sliding equipmenthe noted, ensuring that the draft rehabilitation and modernization of this tourist resort will attract more visitors, while meeting the growing needs of tourists for modern infrastructure and services.
With a total budget of 148.34 million dirhams as part of a convention concluded between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (SMIT) and the Council of the Marrakech-Safi region, the restructuring and valorization project of the tourist resort of Oukaïmeden aims to develop, strengthen roads and improve services. A overall investment of 230 million dirhams is also allocated to the modernization of the station and the development of new leisure infrastructure.
