Loïc Giorgi, 40 years old from Toulouse, is a former professional acrobat from Cirque du Soleil, now manager of a parkour gym. He will play a new character, named Booster, in the show Fort Boyard.

Blonde crete on the head, black makeup around the eyes, protruding abs: here is Booster, a new character from Fort Boyard, who seems straight out of Mad Max. He is played by Loïc Giorgi, a versatile athlete. A professional acrobat with Cirque du Soleil, he has toured all over the world. He is also a double Chase Tag world champion: as a player in 2019, then a coach in 2024. “It’s a kind of semi-professional cat and mouse game,” he explains. And in 2018, he opened his parkour gym, Urban Corp, in the Pink City.

But this is not the athlete’s first attempt at television. He was a finalist in Ninja Warrior – a very physical obstacle course game show – in 2016. Then in 2020, he participated in Boyard Land, a sort of winter version of Fort Boyard, which did not last due to lack of audience. A few years later, he finally joined the family of the cult show, filmed on the fortress between the islands of Aix and Oléron. “I was very surprised, four years after my last TV appearance, I no longer expected it,” admits Loïc Giorgi. A surprise all the greater since he was informed the day before the start of filming. “I wasn’t originally planned, but the person who was supposed to play my character got injured just before.”

“I’m making my childhood dream come true”

Booster is therefore the new arrival of the 35e Fort Boyard season. A character “plugged into 100,000 volts”, who is part of the Boo family. “The members of this family are evil, because they are there to defend the treasure of Father Fouras. But the idea with Booster is to move away from the traditional villain by bringing a touch of madness, with stunts and circuses” , explains the athlete. The character, mute, expresses himself only with his body, provokes the candidates and confronts them in different tests: wrestling in the mud, battle with giant cotton buds, balloon inflation… “He looks completely like me, jokes Loïc Giorgi. C He’s my evil alter ego.”

A real source of pride for him, who can add yet another string to his athletic bow. “I’m realizing my childhood dream,” he confides to The Dispatch. “Being on TV is always a unique experience. But it is also a marketing argument, to convey good values. The more we manage to shine in the eyes of children, the more we can transmit a message of kindness, of support, mutual aid, which we lack far too much these days.” Fort Boyard returns to France 2 from Saturday June 29.
