Parasite x Bidule: upcycling at the service of art and design with two innovative frame projects

Parasite is teaming up with Bidule to explore the endless possibilities of upcycling through two innovative frame projects. By integrating contemporary artists, Parasite reinvents eyewear, transforming old pieces into functional works of art. These collaborations highlight Clara Besnard and Alexandros Angelidis, each bringing their unique universe to the design of the frames.

Morph Alpha Project – Clara Besnard: Upcycling as an artistic performance

For the Morph Alpha project, Clara Besnard draws inspiration from the legacy of Parasite to create a sculptural frame. Made up of spare parts and old stock from the Parasite and Bidule workshops, this frame reinterprets the brand’s historic models. Using the 2003 Morph V01 as a base and adding vintage acetate elements from the 70s and 80s, Besnard brings to life a bold structure that merges past and future. Morph Alpha, which won a Silmo d’Or, stands out as a portable sculpture where every detail tells the story of the materials.

Morph Beta Project – Alexandros Angelidis: The balance between design and street art

For the Morph Beta, Alexandros Angelidis approaches upcycling with an urban touch. By modifying the Morph V02 from 2005, Angelidis superimposes layers of materials and integrates hand-cut shapes, creating a subtle interaction between suspension and layering. This contemporary design retains the spirit of the original model while adding an aesthetic inspired by street art.

These two projects show that upcycling, far from limiting creativity, offers a platform for artistic expression. By reusing existing elements, Clara Besnard and Alexandros Angelidis reinvent design through a slow and thoughtful transformation of materials.

With these collaborations, Parasite and Bidule reaffirm their position as pioneers in the field of upcycling applied to frames.
