Paul Pogba, football star turned film educator

Footballer Paul Pogba has left the field for the big screen. In the midst of a period of uncertainty regarding his professional career, Pogba launched into comedy by participating in the filming of Fabien Onteniente’s next film, “4 Zeros”, the sequel to the famous “3 Zeros” released in 2002.

Pogba’s absence from the football pitch since last September has not been without controversy. The 2018 World Cup champion suffered a setback in February when Italian anti-doping authorities handed him a four-year ban. In response, Pogba quickly expressed his intention to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), vehemently denying any intentional violation of anti-doping regulations.

While awaiting the CAS verdict and hoping for a reduction in his sanction, Pogba immersed himself in the world of cinema. According to Le Parisien, the 31-year-old Juventus Turin midfielder took part in the filming of “4 Zeros” alongside seasoned actors such as Gérard Lanvin, Isabelle Nanty and Didier Bourdon. Pogba’s role would be that of an educator responsible for mentoring young football talents.

Confirmation of Pogba’s foray into acting came from Fabien Onteniente, the film’s director, who shared a jovial snap with the football star on his social media account. The scenes featuring Pogba were filmed earlier this week in Rueil-Malmaison, a suburb of Hauts-de-Seine.

The decision to give Pogba a significant role underlines his versatility beyond the football field. Despite the challenges he faces in his sporting career, Pogba’s venture into comedy represents a new way for him to showcase his talent and creativity.

“4 Zeros” is scheduled for release in April 2025 and promises to reignite the fervor of football fans while offering a glimpse into Pogba’s unexpected cinematic journey.
