The 53-year-old singer opens up this Sunday about her orphan eye disease on the show Sept-à-Huit. After two years of hospitalization and the loss of sight in one eye, she returns to her medical wanderings which lasted for more than ten years.

Hélène Ségara has been fighting for several years against a rare eye disease which diminishes her vision and changes her outlook. This Sunday, she tells her story in the “Portrait of the week” of the show Sept-à-Huit broadcast at 7:30 p.m. Hospitalization, loss of sight, medical wandering: the singer details her ten years trying to stop this unknown illness which has already caused her to lose the sight in one eye.

It all started in April 2013. When returning from a trip to Russia, she got up one morning with “ a curtain before the eyes “. His medical journey begins: implants in his eyes and around twenty interventions make it possible to stabilize the condition of his eyes as best they can.

“I try everything”

But two years ago, she felt that one of her eyes was giving out. Nothing manages to stop this degeneration which prevents him from having a daily life made up of normal gestures like “ look at your phone “, “ read ” or simply “ peel a fruit “.

The other eye also begins to show worrying signs, which pushes her to be hospitalized. The objective is then to slow down this “ irreversible and unidentified eye disease » time to find the right treatment.

Because doctors still do not know what the singer is suffering from. She says that she was first diagnosed with a tumor, then multiple sclerosis before carrying out tests to try to detect an autoimmune disease. “ In fact I still don’t know what I’m fighting against but, in any case, I try everything. »
