Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, the program director of France Télévisions, spoke on the subject in the columns of La Tribune Dimanche. “I always listen to the concerns that are expressed. I clearly saw that the suppression of the Health Magazine had caused a stir. I understand the attachment to this historic France 5 program and we therefore finally decided to extend it”he explained.

A great excitement in the medical and scientific sphere

The announcement of the termination of the program also caused a stir in the medical and scientific sphere. In January, 170 personalities, including former minister Agnès Buzyn, opposed the disappearance of the show from France Télévisions through a forum relayed by Le Figaro. On April 26, nine associations of science journalists also raised their voices, expressing concern, in a column published in Libération, about the place of science broadcasts on France Télévisions. Regarding the one presented by Marina Carrère d’Encausse, the signatories highlighted its determining role: “Ending a quality daily program seems to us to send a very bad signal in the fight against disinformation, which is nevertheless one of the commitments of public television. The work of specialized journalists capable of selecting verified information as well as the intervention of recognized experts is essential. We also remind you that health is not a theme like any other. Behind the screen, patients’ lives are at stake.they wrote.

It was the latter who was chosen to succeed him. “We are working with the Newen teams to develop a new formula for the magazinenotes Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez. Jimmy Mohamed will be alone in charge there every day. But Marina Carrère d’Encausse keeps the presentation of “Health Survey” in the first part of the evening and we work with her on social documentaries, like the film on the end of life that she made there is a few months old and has had a big impact. »
