This was to be the “great cause of the quinquennium”. But while he is now halfway through his second term, Emmanuel Macron is not really popular with feminists. It must be said that, despite his promises to combat violence against women, the President of the Republic has made a series of missteps. After his controversial remarks about Gérard Depardieu, which he now says he regrets, the head of state once again provoked a wave of indignation following his decision to decorate two figures known for their misogynistic and sexist outings in the media : Michel Sardou, who should soon receive the title of Grand Officer of the National Order of Merit, but also Thierry Ardisson, who has just been named Knight of the Legion of Honor, this April 11, 2024. Enough to provoke an outcry on social networks and in the press. Moreover, Christine Angot signed a column in the columns of Libération to denounce this distinction attributed to a host adept at “humor-humiliation”.
