As a promo for her show, “The Butterfly Syndrome”, which she will present on March 8, 2025 at the Geneva Arena, Élodie Poux spoke about her unusual illness in the show “C à vous” on Wednesday April 17, 2024 , on 5. The comedian suffers from prosopagnosia. This is a rare neurological visual recognition disorder. Élodie is therefore unable to identify familiar faces. “I don’t recognize people. My husband is okay, but he’s a lot like his brother, it’s sometimes a trap we can fall into. I have files,” she confided with humor.

The 41-year-old Frenchwoman, who has suffered from this condition since she was little, recently explained in “Le magazine de la santé”, on France 5, that this disorder was very bothersome in her daily life. “It’s socially handicapping, because everyone wants to be recognized in life,” she said. Not acknowledging someone is sending a signal that you don’t care about that person or that you are haughty and that is truly the worst signal to send socially. When someone says: “I met so-and-so, he didn’t say hello to me,” we need to tell it because it’s so shocking. I think I spend my time shocking everyone.”

Note that Brad Pitt, although he has not been officially diagnosed, is certain to also be affected by prosopagnosia.
