Despite fears, the In Zimri will be authorized to dock in Abidjan, after having been blocked off Ivorian waters since Saturday January 4. This ship, under the flag of Barbados, which transports 19,700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, was to unload 7,700 tonnes Monday afternoon in the port of the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire. But “allegations of damage to the cargo transported”with explosive potential, prompted the holding of an emergency meeting Monday morning between the country's authorities, the owner of the goods and the transporter.

The autonomous port of Abidjan concluded, in a press release published at the end of this meeting, that « the In Zimri and its cargo do not represent any danger for port facilities, even less for the populations »the ship not suffering from“no damage” and filling “all safety conditions” set by international maritime regulations.

The bulk carrier will therefore be invited to dock after a guided tour open to the press on Tuesday, intended to “reassure public opinion about the integrity of the goods” and to stem the psychosis that has been raging for five days in the Ivorian press and on social networks.
