On Wednesday, December 18, the Laval Police Department (SPL) arrested Leonidas Plastaras, leading member of a drug distribution network on its territory.
The arrest followed a search targeting this criminal organization operating on Île Jésus.
The SPL thus concluded the final phase of an investigation related to this criminalized group.
Over the past two years, investigators from the Organized Crime squad had already carried out several searches and arrests in connection with this investigation,
Summary of facts
During the course of its investigation, which lasted several years, the SPL was able to establish that major players acted as suppliers for drug sellers who had a well-established clientele.
The first waves of interventions took place in 2023, to continue during the summer of 2024.
This allowed the withdrawal of drugs such as heroin and cocaine from the market, as well as the seizure of several criminal assets.
The operation held on Wednesday, December 18 mobilized various SPL teams, including Organized Crime squads and the Tactical Intervention Group (GTI).
Appearance and information
Aged 40, Leonidas Plastaras faces charges of drug trafficking and breach of conditions. He remains detained following his arrest.
