During the night of Saint Nicholas, young men on the largest island of East Frisia chased women into the streets before beating them. Some of them defend tradition.
Lined up in the street, young women are getting hit on the backsides and legs with bullshit by a group of young men with unbridled behavior. Filmed with a hidden camera, this spectacle is repeated every year on the night of December 5 to 6, on the small German island of Borkum located in the North Sea. The 2024 edition of this popular and typically island festival called Klassohm should have taken place normally, sheltered from “foreigners” if a team from public television ARD had not come to investigate this violent ritual which consisted that night of hunting down the women of Borkum before beating them in a public square.
