The President of the Republic announced on Sunday, June 9, the dissolution of the National Assembly. New elections will therefore take place in order to form a new parliament. The dates of the first and second rounds of the legislative elections have been set for June 30 and July 7, 2024, respectively. All polling stations in the department will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Participation rate at 12 noon: 28.36%
  • Participation rate at 5 p.m.: 57.79%

Members of Parliament are elected by direct universal suffrage using a two-round majority vote by constituency. That is to say, to be elected in the first round, a candidate must obtain:

  • more than 50% of the votes cast;
  • and a number of votes at least equal to 25% of the number of registered voters.

Sunday, June 30, 2024, if no candidate is elected in the first round, a second round will be organized on Sunday, July 7, 2024. In the second round, only candidates who have obtained a number of votes at least equal to 12.5% ​​of the number of registered voters can run.

In the second round, the candidate who obtains the most votes will be elected.

In the Loire department.

Each member of parliament is elected in a constituency whose boundaries are set, within the overseas departments and communities, by the Electoral Code and on demographic bases. Thus, the constituencies must represent a comparable number of inhabitants in order to respect the principle of equality before suffrage. The Loire department isItargeted in 6 constituencies. Election propaganda.

Each candidate has the opportunity to send voters a profession of faith, which is sent by the propaganda commission by post. Voters can already find the candidates’ professions of faith online, on the website of the Ministry of the Interior and Overseas Territories: https://programme-candidats.interieur.gouv.fr/

Provided by the candidates in the same way as the professions of faith, the ballot papers are made available to voters by post and/or at the polling stations on election day. The transmission of the ballot papers is not mandatory. If necessary, voters can print their ballot paper themselves.

Who can vote?

To vote in the legislative elections, you must be an elector, which implies:

  • have French nationality,
  • be of legal age (18 years old) at the latest on the day before the election or, in the event of a second round, on the day before the second round,
  • enjoy his civil and political rights,
  • be registered on the electoral roll.

To vote, you must prove your identity with one of the following documents:

  • National identity card (valid or expired less than 5 years ago)
  • Passport (valid or expired less than 5 years ago)
  • Parliamentary identity card (valid) with photograph, issued by the president of a parliamentary assembly
  • Local elected official identity card (valid) with photograph, issued by the State representative
  • Vitale card with photograph
  • Combatant’s card (valid) with photograph, issued by the National Office for Veterans and Victims of War
  • Disability card (valid) with photograph or mobility inclusion card (valid) with photograph
  • State employee identity card with photograph
  • Identity card with photograph or circulation card (valid) with photograph, issued by the military authorities
  • Driving license (valid)
  • Receipt serving as proof of identity (valid), issued in exchange for identity documents in the event of judicial control
  • Hunting permit (valid) with photograph, issued by the National Office for Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS). The hunting permit issued by the National Office for Biodiversity is not valid.

Attention : You must present the original of the document. A photograph or a smartphone download or a photocopy are not accepted.

Also, the voter card is not an identity document. It is not mandatory to vote. but highly recommended.

In order to vote, it is essential to check your voter registration and know your polling station. The reference and address of your polling station are written on your electoral card. You will find them next to the words “polling place.”

You can also find this information via the online service “Query your electoral situation”. This online service is accessible with FranceConnect or a Service-public.fr account.

Proxy voting.

If you already know that you will not be able to go to the polling station on election day, you can give proxy to another person to vote in your place.

There are three options available to you for granting power of attorney to a loved one:

  • the “paper” power of attorney by completing a CERFA form
  • online power of attorney via the website www.maprocuration.gouv.fr
  • dematerialized power of attorney thanks to digital identity for users holding a France Identité digital identity certified (a request in the application followed by a visit to a town hall trained in this process).

As a reminder, a person who has given proxy can still vote if they are finally present on the day of the vote. To do this, they simply need to vote before their proxy.
