On Monday, November 25, Egyptian authorities announced that 28 people had been rescued and search operations were underway for 17 other passengers, after a tourist boat sank off the Red Sea coast, in Egypt.
Monday, November 25, at 5:30 a.m., a boat sailing in the waters of the Red Sea sent out a distress signal. The ship was carrying “31 tourists of different nationalities as well as 14 crew members”, according to a press release from the Red Sea governorate. Currently, 17 people are missing and 28 others have been found.
According to Blick, the Sea Story departed from the Egyptian city of Marsa Alam on a diving excursion and was scheduled to reach another Red Sea city, Hurghada, on November 29. Governor Amr Hanafi said some survivors were rescued by helicopter. Search operations are continuing to find the other survivors, in coordination with the Egyptian navy and army, according to Blick.
