On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Midi Libre met clinical sexologist Muriel Baccigalupo who shares her analysis with us.

According to the latest survey by the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) on the evolution of French sexuality, published on November 13, reported sexual violence against minor women is on the rise.

For the expert, women who are victims of violence during childhood will see their sexuality as an adult woman impacted. In her office, the sexologist supports the words and suffering of her young patients, who open up about this violence earlier than before in the therapeutic process. For her, the MeToo era has greatly contributed to freeing women’s voices.

“There is a search for equality even in sexuality”

This same report also mentions the increase in the number of sexual partners among young women. For Muriel Baccigalupo, “there is a search for equality even in sexuality”. According to her, to free oneself from the image of “The Madonna”women grant themselves the right to sexuality.
