PARKS. Inaugurated last August, the four light tennis (pickleball) courts at Espace Saint-Luc require corrective work.
The strips have been removed and the asphalt surface has been dismantled over the past few days.
Director of communications, technologies and citizen services for the City of Magog, Claudia Fortin informs that the removal of the bands was already planned on the calendar. They were installed temporarily while the permanent strips were delivered.
As for the playing surface, it must be replaced because it had too steep slopes to transform this space into an ice rink. According to Ms. Fortin, too steep slopes would have prevented the water from freezing during colder temperatures. “Corrections are necessary to provide optimal conditions,” she adds.
Asphalt will be laid next spring. However, the permanent strips and the icy surface will be ready as soon as temperatures are colder.
The contractor and the City of Magog are continuing their discussions to find out who will be responsible for the bill. Costs could also be shared.
Espace Saint-Luc and the new version of Maurice-Théroux Park were officially inaugurated on August 29.
