The 24th edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival closed on Saturday in Tunis after three days of activities crowned by the awarding of prizes to the various television and radio productions competing in the festival competitions.

In the official television competition, the series “Ach Hada”, produced by the National Radio and Television Company (SNRT), won second prize in the drama (comedy) category.

In the same competition, Palestine won the first prize in reporting and the first prize in the documentary category as well as the second prize in the TV news category.

An Arabic program from CGTN (China Global Television Network) won the first prize in the television program category, which is dedicated to documentaries, variety shows, shows and cultural and scientific programs.

The Sultanate of Oman is one of the countries with the most awards with five prizes in official and parallel radio competitions.

According to the organizers, a total of 289 applications including 147 television programs with 108 in the official competition and 39 in the parallel section were presented by around twenty television channels, in addition to 18 production companies.

As for radio, the applications amount to 142 radio programs including 125 in the official competition and 17 in the parallel section.

Initiated by the Arab Radio and Television Union (ASBU), headquartered in Tunis, this edition focused in particular on the Palestinian cause and Arab and foreign media coverage of the situation in Palestine.

The ASBU festival annually welcomes the member bodies of the Union among the public Arab television and radio stations and those of private radio and television stations, production companies and Arab news agencies. Production companies and non-Arab channels and radio stations that produce and broadcast in Arabic are also represented.

Since its establishment in 1969, the ASBU Pan-Arab organization has been working to strengthen cooperation ties between Arab broadcasting organizations with a view to developing the content of their audiovisual productions.
