Four tourists have died in Laos after drinking poisonous vodka shots. Ten other people were taken to hospital.
It was supposed to be an unforgettable trip, but it ultimately turned into a nightmare. On November 11, four young tourists in Laos, Asia, decide to go to a bar near their youth hostel.
Shortly after, the four teenagers were found dead. The cause: the vodka they had consumed was poisoned.
When the parents of Bianca Jones, one of the victims, heard the news, the shock was total. “She was surrounded by love in her final moments. His incredible character has inspired many people, which gives us some comfort. We hope the authorities find out what really happened“, they explain.
The Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese (Bianca being of Australian origin, Editor’s note), spoke about this tragedy: “It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. No one deserves to experience something like this“.
Don’t drink alcohol
After learning that her friend had been hospitalized, a tourist decided to warn other tourists via a Facebook group.
“We were with our group in Vang Vieng. At one of the local bars we were offered free shots. Six of our friends are in hospital today, victims of methanol poisoning. Don’t drink alcohol, it’s absolutely not worth it“, we can read in his message.
The poison in question is said to be methanol. For the moment, the circumstances leading to the presence of this poison in alcohol remain to be elucidated.
