U“A thorough investigation is underway, our European security is not only threatened by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, but also by hybrid wars waged by malicious actors,” the foreign ministers wrote of the two countries in a joint declaration transmitted by Berlin.

A telecommunications cable located in the Baltic Sea between Finland and Germany has been damaged, reported Monday the Finnish company Cinia, in charge of this almost 1,200 kilometer long cable between Helsinki and Rostock.

External intervention

An investigation has been launched, but there are no immediate signs of sabotage, Cinia said. The company clarified that “this type of rupture does not occur in these waters without external impact”.

A telecommunications cable located near the German-Finnish cable connecting Lithuania and Sweden also appears damaged, Lithuania’s largest telecommunications company Tilia said on Monday. This connection was located about ten meters from the cable between Germany and Finland.
